March 1986, First matriculation ceremony of KIT

March 1987, Groundbreaking for construction t of the Daedeok campus for KAIST

1989, KAIST merges with KIT and relocates to Daejeon

Jun. 1989, KAIST and KIST are separated, KAIST retaining its name Jul. 1989, KAIST merges with KIT and relocates to Daejeon

Oct. 1996, Establishment of Korea Institute for Advanced Study (KIAS)

May 2004, Establishment of the National Nanofab Center (NNFC)

2009, Merges with Information and Communications University (ICU)

Feb. 2009, Merges with the Korea Science Academy, renaming it Korea Science Academy of KAIST

Mar. 2009, Merges with Information and Communications University (ICU), renaming it the KAIST Information Technology Convergence Campus (ICC Campus)
